“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.” -Dr. Seuss
Too many years working in photojournalism gave me both an addiction to coffee and a deep appreciation for learning new things through people I have just met.
I travel because sitting still is a horrible thing. I have couchsurfed through Patagonia and trekked through some of the most incredible scenery on this planet. I have shared homemade beer, walked along the edge of a glacier, lingered in a forest at the end of the world, slept on spare beds, floors, couches and the ground.

Self-portrait
I love Boulder, Colorado and Patagonia. I hold both bachelors in journalism and masters in anthropology and I believe firmly in the wisdom of experience. I tend to gravitate towards things that can kill me or at least leave me seriously maimed… much to the chagrin of my mother. My heroes are Sebastiao Salgado, Richard Avedon, Elliott Erwitt, John Steinbeck, David Foster Wallace and Berkeley Breathed, but that doesn’t keep me from reading People magazine on airplanes. There is always the next tattoo… much to the chagrin of my father. I hope to change the world, or at least help people see it better. I refuse to give up my idealism although it may take a dent now and again. I reuse Ziploc bags and I’m trying (as futilely as it feels) to stop using plastic bags for anything.
I have been spending considerable amount of time in Buenos Aires, Argentina since January 2008. My desire to live outside of the country I grew up in is at one point a need to know what else exists, how others live, how I might live otherwise, and perhaps a unconscious desire to torture myself by seeking out experiences that make me work hard. Home is fluid, home is where I stop, but Boulder, Colorado will always be something special.
My greatest strength is that I no longer feel limited to what I know. This gives me the abilities to tackle new jobs, in new places and under less than ideal circumstances. I also do not feel limited by geography and this travel junkie is happy to go anywhere.
I write about and photograph what I specialize in and I specialize in people, places and things. This is good because there are plenty of those about and the diversity of each keeps me from getting bored. My portfolio reflects this tendency toward ADD. I shoot fashion, news, landscapes, product, advertising, documentary and I have been known to mercilessly follow my nieces and nephews to grab a snap shot as they try hard to hide from me. I write about what touches me, what fascinates me and what worries me. Give me a soap box and I’ll tell you what I’m passionate about. Give me a blank page and I’ll tell you what you should be passionate about and why.
I hope you react to my work on an emotional level and if you do, for better or worse, I hope you’ll let me know.
