It is finally in print. I made the book for two reasons. One so that I could feel as though the project had reached a conclusion (because the recovering journalist in me still needs to see things in print) and so that I might give a copy to the Comedor.
You’re welcome to buy one too [...]

I was asked by Frank of Sugar & Spice to photograph as he and some of his employees volunteered with Fundación Leer in Villa 31. They took a school room with damaged walls, peeling paint, overall just depressingly ugly and transformed it into a reading corner with butterflies, snails and a large tree along [...]

Below are portraits of the people at Comedor Los Pibes, La Boca, Argentina. This is not everyone who works there and there are also a few children included and they either have parents that work there or attend one of the after-school studies.
The Comedor Los Pibes can best be described as a social organization. They [...]

This post is a part of Blog Action Day 2008 on poverty.

I find I am photographing children more and more. I am drawn to their faces and their surroundings. I look to show the connection between the two, between the expressions you see in my images and where they live. This is not so say the children I have photographed do not laugh and play. They [...]

My experience with living conditions and lifestyles in La Boca and around Buenos Aires continues. After meeting up with Gloria, we went to her sister’s house in La Boca for a mate. The images below are of the inside of Silvia Rodriguez’s house.

Some images from inside Mariana’s house. I was introduced to Mariana through her mom, Gloria, who I am following. I have not fully edited the images from Gloria’s house and really need to keep shooting her story, so I am not ready to post images. But since I was over Mariana’s house I thought I’d [...]

This post is a collection of unrelated thoughts and events. Sorry to put them all into one, but I thought that would be easier than trying to post more than one entry. It gets somewhat irritating to be reading post after post on the same day. However, it is a long post… read it to [...]
From my point of view

I had the opportunity today to hang out on the second floor of a community center, where I am photographing in La Boca, and watch kids across the street try to fix a bike. It had flat tires, so tinkering with the chain wasn’t going to help them much. It was however a reflection on [...]
